Things are beginning to stir in the Bay!
The days are getting longer and warmer and things are beginning to stir in the Bay.
Out deep we are enjoying some solid Hapuku fishing with some great puku up to the 40 kilo mark coming aboard. They have been fat and full of roe though some are already spent. Each trip has produced well and itis great to see many people to call stop fishing as they have enough since you can’t put these back. Alongside the hapuku have been plenty of gemfish, tarakihi and a few bass. All great table fish.
Kingies still have not been consistent. Some days it is full on with large numbers of good fish coming over the side and other days struggling to catch a few. More bait schools are moving into the bay and with these more predators, so the next few weeks will see more consistent kingie fishing.
Snapper have still been in winter mode however this will change dramatically in the next month as the first of the breeding fish will be moving into the bay.
With the weather warming up, the days getting longer and the fishing only getting better, we have some great times coming in the Bay.
